More About Our Company

Hi, my name is Glen and I am the owner of Metal Detector Land.

This is a picture of me when I went treasure hunting in New Zealand – it gets cold there.

Me

Anyway, i’m pretty much just a regular guy that loves treasure hunting. My dad got me into it, and now I think I enjoy it more than he ever did. I mostly use my AT Pro metal detector when I go treasure hunting asĀ  it is a great all purpose metal detector that has amazing audio feedback and detects in pretty much all conditions.

I started this site to try and help others learn about treasure hunting and to try and meet other people who love treasure hunting as much as I do.

If you have any questions or just want to say hi, please use my contact form and I will try to get back to you ASAP.

April 2015 – Treasure Hunting News and Events

It’s been a while since I have done any blogging on news in the world of Metal Detecting and so it’s high time I got back on the horse and delivered an update (I’ll be sure to update more regularly in the future). This month there were a few interesting articles that grabbed my attention. The first is about a guy who discovered some rings in mud flats whilst treasure hunting on Burnham beach, nothing too exciting, but it does go to show that mud can also be worthwhile searching. The next bit of news isn’t great to be honest, the local Barnard Castle Town Council has had residents complain that metal detectorist have...

How To Find Gold Nuggets When Treasure Hunting

Finding a big gold nugget is the dream of almost every single person who owns a metal detector. I know that most beginners who talk to me about metal detecting and treasure hunting are primarily interested in striking it rich by hitting that elusive gold nugget. Unfortunately the reality of nugget hunting is quite a bit different, with the majority of people never finding gold, and those that do, often only finding very small amounts of gold. Don’t get me wrong – it does happen, but you need to set yourself up with the best chance of finding gold if you want to hit a nugget. The following are some of my best tips...

July 2014 – Treasure Hunting News and Events

Are you ready to hear about all the interesting metal detecting things that I read about over the last month? If not, too bad, i’m writing about it anyway :p In no particular order – the first story I want to draw your attention to is about 2 brothers who recently discovered 2 charms that are apparently gold and that may date back to the 1800s. The find happened in Coin Beach Delaware and was the first gold find for one of the brothers – congrats guys! The next bit of news that I read regarding treasure hunting is about a man who was metal detecting in Summerhouse, Darlington. He ended up discovering a...

Tips to Get Started Metal Detecting

Getting started with metal detecting is a great way to not only get outdoors and into the sun shine, but to also meet new people and potentially discover a piece of history! Probably the best thing that I like about treasure hunting, is that I end up going to places and seeing scenery that I just wouldn’t get a chance to see or be a part of if I didn’t get involved with this hobby. I have also been fortunate enough to meet some incredible people along the way, and that is one of the hallmarks of the treasure hunting community – everyone is just so damn friendly and willing to help newcomers learn...

June 2014 – Treasure Hunting News and Events

I’m a little bit late with this treasure hunting news update, so let me get things underway without any further ado. There were quite a few interesting stories that I read this last month, with the most interesting being this story about a mystery coin being found in Jersey. According to the BBC – the 70,000 coins were found by two metal detectorists back in 2012 and no others like them have been seen, the experts claim that they are Celtic coins. The next story that I really liked was about a woman who lost her gold pendant in the ocean at Daytona Beach, Florida. The woman decided to post an ad on Craigslist...

The Best Places to go Treasure Hunting

If you have been treasure hunting for any decent amount of time, you will start to get a good idea on where you like to hunt for treasure and the items that you will generally find. The following is a list of the top places that I go treasure hunting and what I have found in the past. Old Fairgrounds / Showgrounds If you are big on coin shooting then you need to work out where all the old showgrounds area. There are all kinds of goodies that get trampled into the ground that are waiting for you to find them. Beaches I personally really like hunting on beaches as I get to have...

Garrett AT Pro Metal Detector Review

Get ready to fall in love with the Garrett AT Pro, it is one hell of a great metal detector, and for many people it is all the detector that they will ever need. It ranks 1st place in our best metal detector intermediate range. Garrett AT Pro Appearance The appearance of the AT Pro isn’t anything out of the ordinary, but you likely aren’t buying it for the aesthetics. It is primarily black in color and comes as standard with a really nice double D coil. The panel screen is clean and simple to understand, even if it is a little on the small side. The buttons are easily accessible and there is...

May 2014 – Treasure Hunting News and Events

I want to have a monthly round up of all the best and most interesting Metal Detecting and Treasure Hunting news that I have read about from around the web. I normally don’t read all that many articles in regards to metal detecting, however this month there were quite a few that I found interesting. The first article I want to share with you is about a treasure hunter that has found a solid gold necklace. Apparently it was from the bronze age and it is worth an estimated 20,000 pounds! To make things even more interesting, the guy apparently found it by accident. The story goes that he had spent most of the...
